![]() ![]() Blizzard first released a cinematic trailer and a sneak peek at a portion of Diablo 4’s gameplay. It looks like the team stayed true to their word. In November 2021, Blizzard announced on an earnings call that more time would be needed for the team to realize its vision for Diablo 4, pushing it to 2023 at the earliest. Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham confirmed to Game Informer that year that the fourth entry of the series was still in early development when it was announced, saying, “while we’ve been working on Diablo 4 for several years, we still have a ways to go.” Blizzard revealed its release date trailer during the 2022 Game Awards.ĭiablo 4 was originally announced at BlizzCon 2019. We saw a similar response when we announced that we were bringing Diablo to console, and we saw a similar response to the announcement of Hearthstone… That being said, we knew our audience here desperately wants to see and hear about one thing in particular.Diablo 4 is slated to launch sometime in 2023. We know our audience here is passionately PC- and console-focused. Speaking to Kotaku, co-founder of Blizzard Allen Adham said that the team expected some backlash, though "not to this degree.' However, Adham said that Blizzard wasn't completely blindsided, saying: This didn't come as a complete surprise to Blizzard. ![]() While many were hoping for a new Diablo game, a mobile game is a big departure from fan expectations. ![]() From angry hashtags, to even boos at the game's panel, it's clear that the core Blizzard audience isn't in love with the new mobile game. The game closed the BlizzCon Keynote presentation and since then all hell's (pun intended) broken loose. Diablo Immortal has had a rough start to life. ![]()
